Identification Tips:
Dolomite is very difficult
to distinguish from calcite. It is unlikely that both would appear on the
same practical. Color may vary greatly from sample to sample. It does show
cleavage and the
crystal shape is similar to that of calcite. Like calcite, dolomite bubbles when
in contact with acid.
Best advice for the practical: If you think it's dolomite, it's probably
calcite!
